Carrie Underwood told to "Shut up and sing"

Carrie Underwood told to

Throughout the week there has been quite a bit of drama around the "Ag-Gag" bill in Tennessee, and Carrie Underwood voiced her disapproval of the bill on Twitter on April 18th. If the TN governor Bill Haslam approves the bill, anyone with evidence of animal cruelty must turn it in to the police immediately.

Her tweet did not go unnoticed by TN State Rep Any Holt. He responded by saying:

Rep. Holt had an interview with WSMV Nashville following the Twitter exchange. He told Carrie to "stick to singing." This of course upset Carrie, so she responded with another tweet:

Since then, Rep Holt has continued to attack Carrie and during an interview with The Weakley County Press, he had this to say:

"Carrie Underwood is a self-proclaimed vegan vegetarian," he says. "She has had entanglements with the Humane Society of the United States for years. She's proven herself to be absolutely out in left field as it relates to a lot of these animal cruelty convictions, and for that reason, I guess in my mind she has marginalized herself."

He adds, "I think she has proven herself to be not somebody who is interested in the principle law-making decisions. She's interested in brokering the emotion associated with animal abuse, and it is a very emotional topic for a lot of individuals."

Holt then goes on to say that he asked Carrie on Twitter if she had read the bill.

"She never responded," he says. "And I presume that she either has not read the bill or maybe she has read the bill but still will not see what is clearly written in black and white: that the ultimate goal of this legislation is to end livestock abuse as quickly as possible."

No matter what side of the issue you stand on, clearly Rep. Holt not only wants the Ag-Gag bill to pass but clearly has an issue with Carrie voicing her opinion. He did invite Carrie to talk with him about the bill via Twitter, but doesn't want to talk to Carrie before the Gov. makes his decision.

As of the writing of this article, Carrie has not responded to Rep. Holt's requests to talk.
