Love the skin you’re in” is a popular slogan used by a well-known cosmetic brand and I adore it. We really do all deserve to feel this way, so why is self-love so elusive? Comparing ourselves to super models and celebrities with professionally done hair, makeup and photoshop certainly isn’t helping us any. Hungarian singer Boggie has a music video gone viral that reveals her own Photoshop transformation, shedding light on the dramatic production that even she can’t live up to.

I see an average of 200 clients per month, so I hear from real women and men every day about their cosmetic concerns. Some are obsessing about their blackheads and breakouts, others their crows feet and elevens (those pesky vertical lines between the brows). It’s my job to listen to these concerns and create treatments and regimens to effectively improve the health and appearance of their skin but I have a secret I want to share with you. Your skin is a reflection of your inner journey and that includes your thoughts.
I started my career as an Esthetician when my acne was at its worst. I was so insecure about giving my clients advice, when my own skin was a mess, and I obsessed about it constantly. It didn’t help that the acne was uncomfortable, itchy and painful. After a period of time of discovering my ideal product regimen and cutting back on foods that were exacerbating the issue, I started to use visualization and beauty mantras to develop a better relationship with myself and my skin. And wouldn’t you know, it worked.
Louise Hay is an incredible metaphysical author and I highly recommend reading her books if you’re interested in learning more about the emotional causes behind your physical ailments. The following affirmations are from Louise Hay’s powerful book, “Heal Your Body.”
◦Beauty Mantra for Acne: “The love and acceptance I have for myself is reflected in my outer appearance.”
◦Beauty Mantra for Aging: “I love and accept myself at every age. Each moment in life is perfect.”
◦Beauty Mantra for Skin Conditions: “I lovingly protect myself with thoughts of joy and peace.”
◦Beauty Mantra for Allergies: “The world is safe and friendly. I am safe. I am at peace with life.”
I highly recommend repeating your Beauty Mantra at least three time in a row, twice per day, during your morning and evening skincare routine. As you repeat your mantra, visualize whatever is ailing your skin improving, blemishes clearing, lines softening, and imagine those good quality ingredients working their magic in your skin. This daily practice really is a beautiful way to ground yourself, get in touch with your divine feminine and simply show your skin some love.
