Mound Westonka director resigns from Harlem Shake controversy

The Star Tribune has an update on the Mound Westonka Harlem Shake controversy, which saw eight students suspended for performing the viral hit in the school cafeteria. Activities director Dion Koltes resigned from the district Tuesday.

The school district hasn’t confirmed who made the decision to suspend the hockey players hours before the playoff game, but much of the criticism was directed at Koltes. His resignation, signed March 4, was effective at the end of the school day Monday. The school board said in a statement that the resignation is so “both parties could move forward in an amicable fashion.
